L > R  Mr Park receives his Paul Harris award presented by Joe Pluta in December 2020, gifted to him by his wife Rhonda Park.

Mr. Pluta stated that November is celebrated internationally in Rotary as “Rotary Foundation Month.” He outlined the history of the Rotary Foundation including how “Paul Harris” Recognition began which acknowledges individuals who contribute or who have contributions made in their name of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina became a “100% Paul Harris Club,” in 2012 when every member of the Rotary Club had achieved Paul Harris status. Since 2012, the Rotary Club of Lahaina members have continued their remarkable donation contributions to The Rotary Foundation such that the average donation per every single member averaged over $100 annually.  That contribution level earned the Rotary Club of Lahaina a Banner Award each year since 2012 of “100% Every Rotarian Every Year, (EREY) Badge”

The Rotary Foundation is the key Administrative decision making body for Rotary International, the largest international service club in existence. Through the Rotary Foundation, over 3.5 Billion  Dollars has been generated for Health Humanity and Service Programs including wiping Polio off the face of the earth with it’s Polio Plus inoculation program. The Rotary Club of Lahaina is the first Rotary Club in West Maui and currently meets at Roy’s Kaanapali Restaurant while it’s former location at the Royal Lahaina Hotel is under remodeling.  For more information see the Rotary Club of Lahaina Website at

RotaryClubofLahaina.org Or call Club President, Joe Park at 808-551-4551.

Joe Pluta shared that the Rotary website at www.rotary.org is an excellent resource open to all to learn about the amazing things Rotary has accomplished and continues to do for the benefit of mankind without any political or monetary ties. The “Service above self,” motto is one. Rotarians follow the Rotary 4 way test. “1. Is it the truth?  2. Is it fair to all concerned?  3. Will It build good will and better friendships? and 4. Will it Be beneficial to all concerned?  Rotarians in Lahaina added their own 5th component to this test which is 5. Will we have fun?”
